Experiencing the Manifestations of God
(John 14:15-21)
I. When you glorify God you will experience four manifestations of God every day.
A. Hearing the voice of God in your heart. (a still, small voice)
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27)
And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah? (1 Kings 19:12-13)
B. Seeing clearly God's path for you.
Thou wilt show me the path of life. (Psalms 144:15)
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. (Isaiah 30:21)
C. Using your spiritual gift. (1 Corinthians 12:7)
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. (1 Cor. 12:7)
D. Feeling his presence. (Psalms 144:15)
Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. (Psalms 16:11)
Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord. (Psalm 144:15)
1. Down cast, depressed, hopeless, despair comfortless, orphaned. (Psalms 42:5)
2. When you feel forsaken. All men forsook me. (2 Timothy 4:16)
3. When you come to die. O death where is thy sting. (1 Corinthians 15:55)
II. Dying to self is the key to experiencing the manifestation of the life of God.
Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. (2 Corinthians 4:10-11)
A. It is a constant process in true spiritual growth, always bearing about in the body.
B. It is God's way of manifesting more of Jesus and less of you for Jesus' sake.
C. There is no gain without the pain. (John 12:24)
III. The process of dying to self begins with the decision to take up your cross. (Mark 8:35-37)
