Renewing Your Mind with the Word of God
(Matthew 4:4)

Review:

* You must have a goal to be like Christ

* You must learn to live by the word of God

* You must present your body as a living sacrifice unto God. (Romans 12:1-2)

* You must live with the awareness that you are alive to God and dead to the world.

I. Connecting the dots between God's Word and life's experiences (Dt. 8:1-3)

A. God's method

1. He gives you a promise. (The Word)

2. He gives you a problem. (The Wilderness)

3. He gives you a provision other than get you through. (The Manna)

4. He brings you into the desired prosperity (Promised Land)

B. God's purpose in His method.

1. To humble you.

2. To test and prove you.

3. To provide for you to show His faithfulness.

4. To make you know your true source of life God's Word.

II. There are seven aspects of God's Word which produce seven results. (Psalm. 19:7-11)

A. His word is perfect, converting or restoring the soul. (vs. 7)

B. His word is sure, imparting wisdom to the simple.

C. His word is right, rejoicing the heart.

D. His word is pure, enlightening the eyes.

E. His word is clean, enduring forever.

F. His word is true and righteous altogether.

G. His word is greatly to be desired and produces great rewards in life. (vs. 10)

III. You must engage the enemy within your mind exposing every lie, blowing up every strong hold and bringing every thought captive to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every though to the obedience of Christ.

IV. You must allow the Holy Spirit to develop five attitudes of Christ in you. (Phillip. 2:5-8)

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

V. You must put God's word as true against every word to the contrary. (Romans 3:4)

God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

VI. You must learn to receive the impartation of life through the Word. (John 6:63)

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

* A commitment to the goal of becoming like Christ.

* Living by means of the word of God.

*Presenting your body as a living sacrifice to God.

*Living with the awareness that you are alive to God, but dead to the world.
