How to Reprogram Your Heart for Power, Love and a Sound Mind
I. We cannot change our heart, but we can change our mind, then God can change our heart.
(Jer. 13;21; Mt. 12:34-35)
Can an Ethiopian change the color of his skin? Can a leopard change its spots? Just as little
can you, who are disciples of evil, do good. (Jer. 13:23)
O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance
of the heart the mouth speaks.. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth
good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. (Mt. 12:34-35)
God gives us a new heart when we are saved (Jer. 31:33), but He commands us to do what we
can to guard our heart (Proverbs 4:23).
But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says
the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their
God, and they shall be My people. (Jer. 31:33)
Guard your heart with all diligence, because out of it are all the issues of life. (Pro. 4:23)
II. Where did you get your initial programming from and how do you reprogram your heart?
A. Maintain the state of a spiritual minded believer. (Rom. 8:5-6)
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh and they that are after the
Spirit do mind the things of the Spirit. for to be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually
minded is life and peace. (Romans 8:5-6)
B. Commit to a daily time with God that involves Biblical meditation. (Joshua 1:7-9; Ps. 1:1-2)
Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the
law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the
left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:7-8)
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of
sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in
His law he meditates day and night (Ps. 1:1-2)
C. Continue to meditate until you sense wisdom has entered your heart. (Pro. 2:10-11)
When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, Discretion will
preserve you; understanding will keep you. (Pro. 2:10-11)
D. Obey God completely from your heart! (Acts 5:32; Col. 3:23-24: Ja. 1:22-25)
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the
Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
(Col. 3:23-24)
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is
a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. (Js. 1:22-25)
III. God wants to re-write all the ineffective, self destructive, vain programs we have believed
about ourselves and suffered because of what was written. And even more than that, He want us
like the Apostle Paul, to learn to write on the hearts of others that we might read those letters
with joy as the years go by. (2 Cor. 4:1-3)
The only letter of recommendation we need is you yourselves. Your lives are a letter written in
our hearts; everyone can read it and recognize our good work among you. Clearly, you are a
letter from Christ showing the result of our ministry among you. This “letter” is written not
with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. It is carved not on tablets of stone, but
on human hearts. (2 Cor. 4:1-3)
